colonization & genocide acknowledgement

I understand that every inch of land and water here in the so-called americas is Indigenous living ecosystems that were and continue to be exploited, ravaged and destroyed by colonial ways of living. No Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island invited me to live on the land I currently occupy in so-called Oakland, California, United States, therefore I understand that I am part of the colonial problem in living on this land regardless of when, why or how I or my relatives arrived here. I am committed to centering Indigenous voices and movements of the land I occupy as much as I can and in whatever ways I am able, until I hear from Indigenous Peoples that the colonial genocide against them is over and total liberation has been achieved.

As descendants of colonized, displaced, occupied + liberated Vietnamese people, I unequivocally stand with the Palestinian people and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and stop of US military funding to Israel’s genocide, blockade of aide and intentional starvation of the people in Gaza. Next, is LANDBACK, FULL SOVEREIGNTY AND THE RIGHT OF RETURN for Palestinians and Diasporic folx across the globe.
